In 2013, Port Saint John launched an award-winning and innovative education program, which allows students to learn about the port in a meaningful way. A highlight is the port tour, where students explore the port by bus, visiting various terminals, including the container and dry bulk terminals. Each year, 800 to 1000 youth participate in the program. Port Saint John also offers educational resources (on cargo, cruise and careers) to teachers for use in the classroom. The program targets younger grades with the port tour and then reaches them again in their later years with a career angle.

The Port of Trois-Rivières is proud to support many community-based organizations.  In 2021, the Port of Trois-Rivières contributed to 38 organizations that support socio-community, cultural, environmental, educational, and economic development needs. One of the most exciting initiatives was the donation to the Caravane philanthrope organism. This contribution supported the continuation of a project in which seven therapeutic clowns visited residents of Trois-Rivières’ CHSLD Roland Leclerc every week.  Putting a smile on the faces of residents of the CHSLD, this initiative helped break their isolation and promote their well-being.
