The Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) welcomes Chrystia Freeland as the new Minister of Transport and Internal Trade. We extend our congratulations to Mark Carney, who becomes Canada’s 24th Prime Minister.

We also welcome members of the new Liberal cabinet, including Dominic LeBlanc Minister of International Trade, François-Philippe Champagne Minister of Finance, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly, Minister Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness David McGuinty, and Anita Anand Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, and their colleagues.

ACPA will continue our engagement with the federal government to enable ports to have flexible funding options, streamline project reviews and permitting so that our ports system is strengthened for the future.

Canada’s 17 port authorities play an essential role in our country’s economic security and competitiveness, and we are committed to working together to grow and diversify trade.
