October 17, 2022

(OTTAWA) Further to Transport Canada’s intent to launch a new digital infrastructure initiative to strengthen Canada’s supply chains, the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) is sharing the following statement:

“Integrated information technology and advanced data management are the next frontiers of port efficiency.  Canada’s port authorities welcome Transport Canada’s announcement on a new digital infrastructure initiative. Canada’s ports are already piloting digital strategies and working with government and supply chain partners to digitally optimize supply chain fluidity. This announcement sends strong signals that Canada is ready to support scaling out digitalization nationally.

Implementing digital solutions to address increased trade flows and enhanced efficiency, needs strong financial support. Canada’s port authorities further welcome the announcement of a call for proposals under the National Trade Corridors Fund to support projects that strengthen Canada’s digital infrastructure to enhance the efficiency and reliability of our transportation supply chains.”
